Statement of Solidarity in Creative Work

We all have a role to play in creating a more accessible and sustainable theatre ecosphere. I acknowledge I have a responsibility to the craft and the makers of theatre to ensure that theatre is a space accessible to all people and all types of stories. I believe this work is vital to the development of future generations of theatre makers, and I am also conscious of this need in my professional work.

As a lighting designer, I strive to create the best product possible within a given set of resources and to be respectful of everyone else’s needs and ideas. Kindness is the cornerstone of my work in collaboration, and I approach it with care and always from a place of curiosity. Lighting Design requires this sensitivity as I am responsible for sculpting the entire stage picture including people of all shapes, sizes and skin tones as they relate to the environment, the story at hand, and the goals of the production. I am mindful of this responsibility and strive to create compelling compositions that serve the story we tell together.
